Universities | Faculty | Administration
GREEN understands that the credibility of the guidance offered by an advisor, professor, or department administrator is taken seriously. Therefore, before you lead your students through a once-in-a-lifetime transformational journey, we welcome you to get comfortable with our program. Take a look around. You might find that there's as much opportunity for you to visit our awe-inspiring country as there is for your students!
University's RoleStudents are often selected to attend the GREEN Program after they learn about it from a faculty member, Dean or member of the administration.
While some departments offer credit for the GREEN Program, many faculty members offer GREEN as an independent study opportunity for their students. Other universities go as far as sponsoring their students to attend the GREEN Program. Pennsylvania State Unviersity sponsors 20 students to attend GREEN every year with other progressive universities following suit. If you think the GREEN Program would be a good fit for your students please fill out the form below for more information. |

Capstone Projects:

administered, overseen and evaluated by Faculty at Invenio Institute, Costa Rica's leading experiential learning institution. GREEN Students collaborate with Costa Rican students to develop truly impactful and multi-disciplinary solutions to global problems.
*Several Capstone Projects have been adopted by the students' home universities while others resulted in formation of real businesses.
Serving the Community:
Each student plays a key role in developing, building and installing a sustainable technology on an impoverished home. GREEN Students collaborate with local engineers to provide the local communities with accessible water and other sustainability initiatives.

Does your student want credit?
GREEN Students often ask to receive academic credit for their participation on the GREEN 12-Day Service Learning Program. To aid their students many Universities offer credit for the GREEN Program either as a department or through an independent study option with a specific faculty member. Universities like Penn State and Rutgers have provided their students with up to 6 credits for the global experience. Penn State specifically offers the GREEN Program to their students as part of their Global Service Learning Initiative. They administer academic credits and even sponsor 20 students to attend our program every year.
If you have concerns about administering credit to your students, we are here to answer any questions or provide additional details to help connect ambitious students with progressive faculty and departments who recognize the value of an international hands-on program like ours.
For more information please contact our Director of University Development at mikhail@greenworknow.com.
More credit information can be found here.

Faculty & Administration Preview Program in Costa Rica:
GREEN welcomes faculty and administrators who are interested to learn more about the GREEN Program as well as travel to Costa Rica this year.
The next University Preview Program will take place August 2-5th, 2012 with space for 5-10 select faculty members from leading universities across the Unites States. The 4-day preview of the GREEN Program will take place in Costa Rica with all lodging, food and in-country travel expenses covered.
This will be the third time we are inviting faculty and administration to experience our program and learn more about getting students involved with this great opportunity. The first two preview programs had outstanding results with several Universities committing to sponsor and accredit the 12-Day GREEN Program for their students every year, while other Universities have offered partnerships and are already planning to send their students to experience GREEN.
If you think that any members of your faculty or staff might want to experience the University Preview of the GREEN Program this August 2-5th, please feel free to forward along this message with the attached proposal. Any faculty or administration members interested in the program should complete the form below and also email joelle@greenworknow.com with their name and university information.
The University Preview Program is available on a first come first served basis and will accommodate a maximum of 10 people from different Universities.
GREEN will accommodate all of your in-country travel arrangements, food, lodging and excursion costs for the duration of the program. But the faculty member or administrator is responsible for arranging for their own round-trip flight to Liberia, Costa Rica. Normally faculty is able to secure funding from their department for this sort of travel expense.
